What began nearly four years ago as a way for us to be closer
to our horses has turned into a wonderful business enterprise
that allows us to spend time with these magical creatures
while enjoying the beauty and enchantment of Lookingglass
Valley located eight miles outside Roseburg, Oregon, which
is along the I-5 corridor.
Admittedly, we were attracted to alpacas by one of those
television ads showing their adorable faces, and since we’d
just purchased twenty acres, we certainly had the room for
them. Luckily we were guided by owners of another farm who
explained how to design pastures, pointed out tax advantages,
gave us lists of what we’d need and even allowed us to
witness a cria being born (yes, we bought him and his mom
along with another female cria and her mother.)
We’ve kept our herd small in order to concentrate on
quality breeding with top bloodlines including Danko, El Padre,
Yupanqui, and Cloud 9 Comet. Careful breeding and selective
bloodlines have resulted in consistent wins in the show ring
and outstanding fiber. We welcome visitors all year to visit
our ranch and meet our animals.
